THE HOME OWNER'S GUIDE TO PURCHASING CUSTOM WINDOW COVERINGS
1. What Are Your Priorities?
The first thing you will want to do in considering the purchase of Custom Window
Coverings is to determine your priorities. Using the list below, number the items
1-9, with 1 being the highest priority.
___ Function
___ Color
___ Cost
___ Design
___ Quality
___ Service
___ Installation
___ Convenience
___ Warranty
There are no right or wrong answers to this question, but your answers will determine
the procedure you will follow. If COST is your number one and only concern, puchasing
from one of the mega stores may work for you. You measure, you select, you install.
There is no need to use a consultant if this is your priority.
If any of the other items are of concern to you, using a consultant will give you
best value. They can help you make the best desicions, work within your budget, and provide
unique designs.
2. What Are Your Priorities?
Before you call in the consultant, (and we hope that will be us) ask yourself these
questions about every window:
Do I want this window treatment to be functional or just pretty?
How much light do I want and need in this room?
Is fading of furnishings a consideration?
Is privace an issue?
Do I want this room to be soft or dramatic?
What is my design theme?
Do I prefer solids or prints?
What are my color preferences?
How long will I be in this home?
What is my budget?
3. Meeting with Your Consultant
Be prepared to express your desires. The treatment should reflect YOU and not the decorator.
Let your consultant know your budget early in the discussion.
If the home is under construction, have samples of those items that must be matched-carpet,
wallpaper, existing upholstery, etc.
Custom window coverings take time to fabricate. Get in touch with your decorator at least 8
weeks prior to installation. Quality fabrics produce quality window treatments. Don't compromise
by purchasing "seconds". Your decorator's fabrics carry a guarantee from their supplier for
consistency in dye lot and finish
